A few weeks ago, I was at a local thrift spot, and I found a stuffed bag of vintage handmade Christmas ornaments. Stuffed unlovingly to the brim for 3.99. I mean..really - who would give this to Goodwill?? Well, they have found a new home and are happily bouncing on our tree, accompanied by the other little knick knacky ornaments I have picked up recently
There are probably 2 dozen of them - caroling children, wooden Santa's, 2 Nutcrackers, felt reindeer-what a treat it was to open them up!
I am not a matchy matchy tree person. I like our tree to be more of a conversation piece. I walk up to it several times a day and just stare. So many memories abide in those branches. Our tree is a combination of ornaments from both Dustin and my childhood, ornaments from our kids and these misfits that no other family wanted. :) I've always been the type to make sure everything had a place. When I was little I would pick the crinkled coloring book because I didn't think anyone else would want it and I didn't want that poor coloring book to not have a home.
Everything is uber-happy around here lately. My next line of fabric has been shipped to Michael Miller and they are sending it off to the mill in about 30 minutes from now. It's such a relief to tuck something to bed for a while. Now I have a free stretch of 6-8 weeks to do nothing but play with my kids and clean the house until the strike offs come back.
Dustin and I have our date-night tonight and are going to Lava Hot Springs. It is a natural hot spring and is sooo nice. I've heard there is an amazing Thai restaurant right next to it that we have never tried so maybe we'll give that a try. I've been on a bit of a curry sauce kick lately..
And if that weren't enough, right around the time we get home, my brother and sister will be arriving for a visit! I can't tell you how excited I am about this visit-lots of fun things planned! Hopefully we can coerce my sister into a game of Settlers of Catan. It's hard to get her to play because I always win. Muahh haa ha..
If you are looking for a great game as a gift-make this be the one! It is fun fun fun..Make sure to get the expansion part called Cities and Knights.
All right-there are two monkeys jumping around me for some hugs and kisses and I must oblige.
