Yesterday I tried my hand at homemade marshmallows! I followed Heather's link to here. This was the first exploration I've had into candy making and they turned out quite fab if I do say myself. It's really not that hard of a process actually. :) I substituted 1/3 of the sugar with crushed up candy canes, and mixed in some more after they were poured. After a bath in chocolate, these are my new best friends. Especially when coupled with a cup 'o cocoa. Seriously good eats. Perfect for present wrapping time.
Oh how I love to wrap presents. Ribbons, bows, paper, tape, some good Christmas music or movie and I am one happy camper. It's part of that joy centered around Christmas-the excitement of picking out a perfect gift for a loved one, wrapping it up and then keeping it secret for 3 weeks. Check out this super cool paper I got at Shopko the other day. I haven't seen paper this fab ever! Run run run before it's all gone! They had it in red too. :)
I hope your preparations are going well and you aren't stressing out! We'll talk again soon! Sandi

I'm trying the marshmallows tonight!
I'm a wrapping paper junkie -- you just can't have enough ribbon, little berries, random sparkly things... The prettier, the better. I also ALWAYS have a stash of double stick tape -- for seamless wrapping, of course! (I learned that trick from my wrapping duty days at Dillard's Dept. Store!)

digging the paper, where did you get it?

Sheri-
I looked on the website, but I can't find any wrapping paper! But it's from Shopko, so if you have one where you are, I'm sure they'll have it in the store.

YUMMMMMMMMMMMMMMMY marshmallows Sandi! Candy making and baking is part of what makes the holidays so special for me & I always love seeing someone else love the tradition as well :) Thanks for sharing. OH!!!! And LOL and Shopko--we always called it Shop KNOCK OUT! Sadly, no knock outs around here but your green paper is beautimous--I'll have to share the fab wrapping papers I found at Hobby Lobby this year. You'd love them. Happy Holidays!

Those marshmallows look so yummy-licious! That would be a fantastic alternative to the whole cookie plate thing we usually do! But ... what is a whole lot of marshmallows exactly? No where does it say JUST how many it can make ... so using a half recipe ... how many did you get?

Oh what a good question! I have to disagree with the "whole lot of marshmallows" part. I made the full recipe and I got 2 9 x 13 pans of thin marshmallows. It was enough to give to 6 families along with a baggy of cocoa and to have a few for each of us. The next time, I will make a double batch. Even if we aren't giving them away-they keep for a long time apparantly.

Delish! Love the pretty wrapping paper too. I'll have to try some candy making myself sometime. The pictures turned out really nicely.

Score on that paper. I always wrap my wall art and hang it up for some dramatic, cheap Christmas decor. That paper would look great on my wall:>)

Your marshmallows look yummy and I love your paper. I would love to have it in both colors, but darn it - no Shopko, here.

Mmmmm... those chocolate covered candy-cane flavored marshmallows look delectable! There goes my diet! LOL! I think I may actually have to try making some! :)
Cute wrapping paper too. I found a great one a Joann's the other day... it had a tone-on-tone harlequin pattern in apple green tones and I am a sucker for harlequin so I was ALL OVER THAT!!!
