Oh, that's hilarious. I guess I'm a list-checker mama, though my girls really did enjoy it this year. But we've checked it off the list for 3 out of 4 and won't be doing it again next year. Check!

I can so totally relate. My daughter Jordan started taking a special needs ballet class when she was 2 1/2 and it lasted until last April when the school closed.

There was a small group of us and I suppose one fits all the descriptions at some point in that social circle.

I just about died laughing at spastic ducks. That would be my child at every recital she was in, and I have the videos to prove it.

Be grateful you don't have recitals yet. Dramatically overpriced costumes that they will wear maybe all of three times. Once for pictures (a joke in itself), once for the dress rehersal, and once for the final performance (praying you make it to the final without ruining the flesh colored tights and costume first!)

But, if they love it and have fun going to class, us mommies will do anything for our little ballerinas!

Judy

Hi Sandi, not new to your blog but this is my first time posting. :o) Just wanted to come by and say hi. Thank you for commenting on my top on Flickr (the one that's similar to one of the patterns you'll be releasing soon). ;o)

Your kids are adorable!!! I'm enrolling my 4yo in dance this summer...I will be curious to see what type of mom I turn out to be, lol.

Mary

Spastic ducks, indeed! LOL! We are approaching our first recital here and I am wondering how Miss L will handle it. We had lots of fun watching her "interpretive dance" at my sister-in-law's concert a couple of weeks ago. If that's what we can expect at the recital, it will take all I have not to laugh.

Oh I remember my daughter's first "recital"! It was so adorable and funny. I got teary from laughing and being so proud. I'm not sure what mom catagory I was in. I think I just wanted her to obtain a little grace (that I didn't/don't have). :P

Okay... I just took Ella to her very first ballet class last week. I'm not sure if I've ever seen anything cuter. Having raised 2 boys so far... this is uncharted territory for me. And Eric... well he is completely lost or smitten or both at the same time.
I am SO looking forward to seeing your new stuff. See you so very soon, too soon with the amount of work we all have before then.
Here's to 3:00 am email parties!!

That was a perfect summary of Mommies. I have the same experience with the mommies at gymnastics class. Who knows what category I fit into?

I love watching my kids be kids. It is so much fun.

Erin

I love the one of her working so hard to perfect her 6th position....so cute! Very Eliza.

OH this is too funny.....I got the chance to see my little one dancing a few weeks ago and until then put her into her wiggles and giggles dance class and ran out the door - I think I am a hint of all the mummy types - with no windows to look through. Miranda Loves Dancing and wants to do all things her big sister does even if she is not old enough, and of course I want her to do well but not too perfectionistic.

Marisa

I loved this post! I'm a ballet mom, too. But I do it so I can be kid free for an hour once a week as I watch my three year old through the window. And of course, as I see her in her cute little leotard and tights dancing and being so cute and happy, I let go of the stress of my demanding diva of a three year old, and get to refuel for the rest of the week!

kristi yamaguchi said on dancing with the stars that she was pigeon toed also, and she won gold medals for figure skating, so you never know!

jennifer Paganellli

so nice to have met you..wishing you all the best..enjoy the process...the ballerina is lovely!!
