Pie.
Apple Pie to be precise.
Have you ever heard the phrase "as American as Apple Pie?"
Of course you have! Everyone has, and every time I hear it, I hang my head in shame. You see, I do not like apple pie. I don't care for the soft, cooked fruit, or the squishy crust.
However, I love the idea of apple pie. I love the look of it, the smell, the flavors. I love the idea of harvesting apples in the crisp cool autumn air and going home and slicing those apples up by hand and creating and apple pie.
Every time I am around one of these concoctions, I give it a try, determined that my taste buds will have matured to the point that I can start actually using the phrase "as American as apple pie" instead of hiding when it is used.
Well.
My time has come. I have come up with THE best apple pie ever. It is a crumbly topped pie, which I'll share pictures of when it's done. I can truly say that I LOVE this pie. And if you are of the apple pie hater club, I hope you give this one a try. Recipe will come with picture of the finished loveliness tomorrow.
Tonight - I am celebrating. Celebrating a humongous work week over. Celebrating that I survived the dentist this morning. (Don't tell him I came home and made a pie!) Celebrating with homemade chicken soup that is calling my name. Celebrating by going on a date with my hubby. We each have Barnes & Noble gift cards from Christmas calling our names. And a fabulous looking new movie to catch.
See you soon!
Sandi
(by the way, I have a new banner and background up, so pop on in if you're in a reader and have a moment!)

A new apple pie recipe! MMMMM... can wait to see the pics and the recipe. My daughter went to see The Lovely Bones tonight. I think I might need to see that one also.

I love the new look of your blog. So pretty. Your new photo is lovely, you have such a delicate face. I love apple pie and can't wait to try yours.
The Lovely Bones in book form was amazing. I am hoping the movie doesn't let me down. How could it even compare?

You're new look is great! I popped over from my reader before you told me to, because I needed to comment on anything to do with apple pie. I must say, I am an apple pie snob. Not just any pie will do. I believe that one with crumbly topping would be divine!

My husband also hates apple pie but loves my crumble topped apple pie. What is it about that? Are the apples less mushy?

Love the new header, your pic and of course the fabric on the sides!! Pretty, pretty! I am a HUGE apple pie fan, so I will be thrilled to try your recipe. The best is warm with a scoop of vanilla icecream~ nothing beats that in my book!

Sandi, your new picture is darling. You have the cutest nose!
As to apple pie, well, I am not very good at them. We are more apple or berry cobbler people. However today I did make two from scratch banana cream pies and boy howdy! They were yummy!

I'm not a big fan of apple pie myself, but I certainly wouldn't pass one up! Love the new background, btw. I have slip-covered and armchair and ottoman with this fabric, I love it so much!

I love your new banner too. But I REALLY love your pic, you look great. Girl we need to talk sweaters. You have the best taste in clothes and shoes! Which is not surprising. Post where you got it. Love the leaf design and color.
Love apple pie. Especially with Bluebell Homemade Vanilla ice cream on top. Can't wait for the recipe!
Oh and the movie. One of the most stirring books I have ever read. I was emotionally drained after reading it. Hope the movie is as good. Let us know!

I love your new blog look and the new photo is lovely.
I must admit to being more of a crumble girl than pastry so your pie sounds delish! I'm not American though so do I get to say as English as Apple Crumble?

Hello Gorgeous!! You are looking hot mama! Yum I love apple pie. I'm the official apple pie baker at Christmas and Thanksgiving. LOVE the new blog look, in fact it's the color of apple pie... green apples, cinnamon and a little fresh cream! mmmmmm

Me (and my whole family actually) are kind of pie snobs :/ I have to admit! .. but proud of it :D
LOVE pie; but has to be homemade with mom's crust only: good old fashioned double crust fruit pies. We can devour half a dozen pies in one day (... well there are over a dozen of us in my immediate family)
So I am overjoyed that you found an apple pie you like. oh me. i may have to bake one now too!
p.s. lovely new colors - and your profile pic: beautiful!
