I have gone back and forth with thread organization for as long as I've been sewing. It's not an easy thing to keep in order, especially when you have a rainbow of colors like I do! I think I have found my method though - hoorah!
I few weeks ago I stumbled upon this wooden organizer for .99 cents at a thrift store. I snagged it, with the intention of painting it. But as soon as I got it home, I thought of all those pretty colors against the old wood, and so it came about.
I love it! And these are actually photos taken from our past dwelling. My studio isn't even set up in our new house! I am currently working off of a kitchen table left behind here in the "blue room." Oh the blue room.. I am guessing you will become quite familiar with it.
I should mentioned that we love this house. But it certainly has some areas that need help. I present, The Blue Room:
Coming in from the deck:
From the "Blue Kitchen":
Into the "Blue Kitchen":
Where the two Blues collide:
Envy doesn't look good on anyone, so keep it in check now.
Oh, but all jokes aside, the Blue Room has one thing that you can't create with supplies from Lowes. Here is the view from The Blue Room:
So, yeah. I think we can work around the blue.
We are settling in quite well actually and I find myself thriving in the creative possibilities that abound in this home and the property it sits on. I can't wait for spring - there is a huge garden spot with crumbling rock walls that desperately need to be rescued.
Oh, wait till you see the purple bathroom. Oh yes.

if you can paint the cupboards white and add some red accents, you might be able to pass the room off....but you're right, the view is beautiful!

When I was looking at your blue room and the blue kitchen, I thought about how much room there is for your kids to play.
And, oh! that view! Yeah, what blue???

Gorgeous views! Our snow is coming this weekend. I think I put that linoleum into a bathroom addition in my first house......courtesy of Home Depot.

That is a spectacular view! And I love blue. It isn't gaggy or anything like that. The house looks cozy and warm and homey. Happy Thanksgiving in your new home!

Lol... we bought a house in Bailey, Colorado that I called the blue house. Everything was blue including the woodstove that I would've happily strapped to the top of my car when I moved back to Missoula. Your new house looks like it has great possibilities, "bones" as they say. Happy Thanksgiving to you and your family in your new house with it's blue hues. :) Jil

Ooh. I love the spool box. I'm going to keep a lookout for one. And look on the blue side, I mean the bright side, I didn't see any almond coloured appliances in your kitchen. :)
Happy Thanksgiving to everyone south of the border!

I love your blue kitchen..the space of the room is wonderful! Of course, this is coming from the girl whose kitchen is in rubble at the moment and is very slowly coming back together...man I wish I moved out for this DIY project!
Can't wait to see the purple bathroom...mine was brown and pale blue when we moved in!

I love houses with character! Much better than my cookie cutter house (it is weird to go into your neighbors house and it is the same as your But, not!?) Lucky you (envy in is green- do you have a green room too?).

Wow, that blue room is something else! But you really can't beat that view, for sure! I have been struggling with thread organization since I started sewing--your idea is genius! I love it! I may have to steal it for sure.

Well I love this blue and think it's so brave of someone to use color like this and not go with something more neutral thinking it's more sensible when this blue is so much fun. The view is just lovely too. The thread idea is a winner, now I shall look for something similar for my craft room in the works. I have always struggled for a place for my thread and they end up in plastic shoe boxes, this displays the color so beautifully. Thanks Nan

I love your view, and the blue, well, it could be worse! I'm sure you'll come up with ways to work with it to make it seem a lot more habitable. It's kind of a fun challenge! Your thread storage is perfect and gorgeous - I'm going to be on the hunt now for a similar setup because I've run out of room on the store-bought thread holder I have and your solution is just right. Thanks for sharing!

Love the thread organization, love it! I'm so happy to hear that the new home is becoming a real home to your family. We moved in April and it was love at first night in this one and it continues to show me all the ways to love it!

Being a lover of blue, I would enjoy the freedom to be creative with it.
