Welcome January and 2011!
I am not usually a New Years whooper, but I am so ready for 2011. 2010 was a rough year for me, and I am bound and determined to make 2011 shine.
January in particular is generally depressing to me. I think it's because I wholeheartedly throw myself into the celebrations of the end of the year, and then January hits and... ... what?... nothin. But this year, I find myself embracing January. We are covered in a beautiful blanket of snow and it's just lovely. Lovely enough to draw as is show by my new blog banner. I've got this fun idea to change it each month of the year to reflect the surroundings I find myself in. (Hop on in from your reader to see the full makeover if you like.) That lovely branch is one of the views from my bedroom window, and how bad can January be when it brings such beauty?
New Year's Eve found me trying to embrace some particularly bad news (everyone's healthy, nothing I really need to go into here, but don't worry your pretty little heads!) and I felt all I could do was light a candle and breathe. In the long scheme of things, small worries pass and the important things stay.
Yes, I am loving on January this year.

I love the idea of embracing January, which is usually a hard month for me as well. It's just going to keep showing up every year, so we might as well try to enjoy it!

The banner is lovely.
I actually force myself to get into taking down the decorations as a time to reflect on what has been and where I want to go. By the time I am finished packing the last container I find that I am excited for what is around the corner.
Just not so much cold weather--my allergies seem to not like January so much.
