If this image gets your taste buds going, I'm about to change your world. Yes, big statement, but so true!
OK, let's back up.
A few months ago, I was at my girl Sarah's house. We were hanging out in her studio chatting about fabric, illustration, art, kids, boys - you know, girl talk. Her darling husband Ken came downstairs and place his hands on Sarah's shoulders (making me miss my husband because he does the same thing) and asked if we were in need of some Kettle Corn. Yes please.
What he brought down was not what I had previously experience as kettle corn! It was something beyond, something insanely taste bud explosive. I raced home and started mastering the recipe.
Welll.. the other night I really wanted some, but didn't feel like washing the pot and doing the hand shake dance jig over the stove top to keep it from burning. I vaguely wondered if this was achievable in the microwave.
It IS.
So, now - let me make a statement here. Sarah and Ken's popcorn rocks. I love it and will still make it. There is something very fullfilling about popping popcorn over the stove, old school style. But do give this a try. It's just as good, and a bit safer. (Ken has a popcorn kernel scar on his neck.) So for when the kids are around and we're in a hurry to watch a Friday night movie, this is the method I'll use. If the kids are tucked away in bed and Dustin & I want a treat, it'll probably be old school - stove top popcorn time.
A note about the above picture. I initially tried this out in a large plastic container and it is a definite no-go.
This is not good eats. (That globular mess is melted plastic.)
This method worked much better..
The recipe is over on my sidebar, ready for download. Or just click here.
OH, and I haven't tried it, but I'm sure you could omit the sugar for a traditional popcorn if that is how your taste buds are inclined.
Enjoy!
