I realize I have become the most boring of boring people on the internet. Know that when that happens, I have about 50 things in the ringer in real life and my family is looking at me like I'm a loony. Probably because I look like one..
First off, I'm having a sale on patterns. (If the sale price doesn't show on the main shopping page, it does show up when you add the item to your cart!) We can't handle the upkeep on the shipping and storage anymore. I know my strengths (or I have learned them..) and processing and handling orders from our home isn't the solution for us anymore. I used to think it very quaint and homey that every room of our home showed signs of the business that kept us in food & drink, but now, it is becoming daunting. We're not ending out sewing pattern business, but fter a lot of thought and consideration, we've decided to change around our distribution methods and use an actual distribution center. (Haven't decided on one yet, if anyone has some suggestions, my ears are open!) This will ease a lot of things, and I'm really excited about the change.
To kick start this transition for us, we've marked ALL sewing patterns down 50% off. This is pretty much unheard of in the indi sewing pattern community. I've never seen it done I don't think.. But it will help us to dwindle down our inventory before we ship off the remaining stock to our new warehouse. Most of the patterns will not be relisted, so I would suggest snagging them now if you are interested.
I am going to give myself about 4 months to breathe, design new patterns and get a few more ducks in a row before we begin shipping again. Why the change? (And huge blog absense?)
For Christmas, my dad and stepmom surprised my entire (14 piece) family with a trip to Mexico over spring break. So generous, right? Well, the vacation time came and I found myself in a mental state of insanity. "How can I get this done??" "How will I pack??" etc..
Cabo San Lucas..
While we were on the trip, there were a few fancy shmancy nights and I did Eliza's hair. I found myself realizing that I couldn't remember the last time I had done her hair. And we go to church every week!
(Everybody all together.. awww..)
And then throughout the whole week, I couldn't stop thinking about work. I have too much on my plate. The only way to deal with it is to become bigger, with several employees and a studio and stuff, which right now, I just don't want to do. Or, quit. Which isn't the solution either, nope. OR, hand off distribution services to someone else, so that is what we are going to do. From the moment we made the decision, ahhh... sigh of relief. So I know it is the right decision.
The rest of this year is going to be busy.. I'm finishing up my second book, and launching two incredible partnerships with Making Memories that I can't wait to tell you all about. Soon here, as we are getting close to launching the first one! I picked the final pieces for my next fabric collection today. It's my best to date and I'm really proud of it.
Feeling better over here. It has been a really stressful, busy few month over here, but we are resurfacing and looking forward to the brightening horizon that is welcoming spring to our doorstep.
A few more vacation photos that are the slideshow that I know you all are dying to see.
This is me on the day I got the worst sunburn I have ever seen before. (truly, it was near 3 weeks ago, and I still have the marks from it.. I'll spare you pictures..)
This is the obligatory tumbling out of the ocean shot.. :)
These are the glorious flowers I photographed right before I hopped in the ocean and swam with a dolphin. It really was a memorable trip.
Patterns will be on sale for about a week, unless our stock is depleted before then!
