Forgive the too obvious title, but I couldn't resist. I've been making soap. Lot's of it. We all have our little personal goals in life, and apparantly self sustaining my family with eggs and soap is one of mine. I officially haven't purchased eggs or soap at the store in about 4 months, something I am oddly proud of.
Your guess "why?" is as good as mine. No that's not true, I know why, but I acknowledge that it is sort of a funny conquest.
At least it's good, clean fun. And there I go again.. apparantly being as cheesy as possible on my blog is another personal conquest.

I haven't bought bread or yogurt in about 3 years. Making my own! It's better and better for me and my family. Besides, it's really fun. It's nice to have a couple of things you make at home.

Your soap looks wonderful!
I made my own soap once..it lasted ages. In fact I probably have some tucked away somewhere still....
If soap and eggs become extinct we're all moving to your house for sustenance and to remain unstinky!

I love making my own soap. My favorite is coconut milk soap. My second favorite, goats milk soap. Unfortunately I live in California so I can not buy lye in the stores like other people can. I have to order it online and I am always afraid I am going to end up on a list of people who are suspected of making meth since I buy so much of it! I make enough for our family, my in-laws and a family friend who has three people in her family. Since homemade soap doesn't last as long as the commercially made detergent bars it equates to a lot of soap! Thank you for sharing your new found love.

I signed up for a little course to learn how to make my own soap but they cancelled it. I will learn one day... Yours look great!

Would you share your recipes for your soap?? I've had dreams of making soap and even vowed that i would absolutely definitely certainly make it, and then never have. You are rekindling the desire with your photo of all of that yummy soap stacked up.

I also have a goal to have my own chickens as well! And I want to make soap, too! I also want to get my hands on some raw milk so the kids & I can learn about all the things we can make from it. So, I gotta have a cow, too. Raw Milk is illegal to sell in Alabama.

When the world comes to an end you will have lots of people swarming you. On the necessities, I would say soap and eggs make the top 10! It looks like a fun project!
