Fall is creeping in.. it is still summer - for sure. But I am starting to feel it at night. The air is getting crisper and when we ride our bikes, we have started crunching the first fallings from the trees. We have done back to school shopping and the backpacks are full, even though school doesn't start until the 28th. But that sense of tidying up summer has started to set in, and it makes me want to quilt.
Started Liesel's Stiching Club quilt (it's a freebie!) the other night. I have had the quilting bug for a few months now. Despite designing fabric for a day job, I don't really consider myself a quilter. I have sewn quilts, but never an organized one. Mostly I just grab random pieces and sew them together. I have wanted to do a "real" quilt for awhile. Nope, I'm not saying smashed together quilts aren't real, just that I wanted to do one with a plan to it. When I saw Liesel post this one the other day, I knew that this was the one to start with.
It is so fun isn't it? Picking out fabric for a quilt. Running your fingers over the stash, randomly pulling one print and adding it to the stack. Finding the perfect balance between different fabric collections. Love it. 'Cept I really wanted to include some pumpkin Henna and found that even I am plum out. This induced a fabric stash panic attack that made me vow to finish up my new Henna group and get it off to the printer so we can all get some of that print back in our hands.
