I have no clever title, but I painted and ate popcorn the other day, would you like to see?

The other day I was fidgety and needed to play with some color.  I hopped on the computer and opened up the fabric collection I am designing.  Nothing came.  In fact, I was growing edgy and fast falling into what I think is an artists version of writers block.  Where you want to create, really need to, but nothing is coming.  And obviously, that really just makes it worse if your paycheck depends on creativity.  I don't perform well under stress, I like to be all loosey goosey and have my time to figure things out.  So, I pushed myself away from the computer and popped some popcorn and grabbed my watercolors.

Watercolor is never stressful to me, because I have accepted that it is its own master and I am merely the humble apprentice pushing it around on the page.  Really, it does what it wants.  And I have yet to use any of my watercolors for design work, they are purely just for my own fun, which I love because I always have some art I "can share". 

So I sat there, munching some popcorn and thinking about how exciting it will be to string popcorn for our Christmas tree this year.  So I started drawing a popcorn & cranberry garland, which of course needed some Christmas dresses to go along with it.

Then I remembered the lone tree I painted a few weeks ago that almost immediately got splashed with diet coke. I cut out the tree, which took care of most of the splatter mess.  Everything else just looks professionally "aged"  ahem..

And now, I want to sew Christmas dresses and paint them for little girls.  And string popcorn.  And drink cocoa.

But it needs to wait for a little bit longer.  Fall is what we are embracing right now, and there is a pile of apples on my counter begging to be made into a pie. 

But this little holiday leap was what I needed for that day, and I think I have eaten popcorn for about 10 days straight now.  Pop Secret Homestyle.  Addicted.

There we are.. a pretty little popcorn watercolor party?  Always on the menu.
